" I am sitting on my own"

ABOUT US
The Colorado Springs Therapeutic Riding Center offers an enjoyable and professional Hippotherapy and therapeutic riding program for children and adults ages 2 years and older in private and small groups for 30 minute or 60 minute lessons. Our lessons are instructed by certified PATH International Instructors (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) or a therapist trained in Hippotherapy.
We offer equine-assisted therapies and Hippotherapy to children and adults who are living with physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral and learning challenges related to various forms of trauma, developmental delays, autism, cerebral palsy, blindness, deafness, down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, batons disease, and cancer.
OUR VISION
After 36 years of providing therapeutic riding services to the physically and mentally challenged, the Colorado Springs Therapeutic Riding Center was founded as an extension of Mark Reyner Stables with a very strong and extensive background in the understanding of horses and the challenges of providing services to both disabled and able-bodied individuals.
OUR MISSION
The Colorado Springs Therapeutic Riding Center is a not-for-profit corporation committed to delivering the highest quality therapeutic riding to individuals with special needs. We provide equine-assisted activities to those with physical, cognitive emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities.
OUR GOALS
(1.) Develop a program of weekly therapy sessions specifically tailored to each individual with regards to their mental, emotional and physical challenges.
(2.) Improve posture, balance, mobility and self-esteem in each of our students.
(3.) Collaborate with the physical therapists and physicians of our students and place emphasis on the Hippotherapy approach in our program.
(4.) Ensure that each student is strong enough, both cognitively and physically, to participate in a lesson for 60 minutes.
(5.) Empower our students to increase their self-confidence and improve their strength, balance, coordination, attention duration, language, and social skills through our therapy program.
(6.) Improve the quality of life for each of our students and his or her parents by increasing the students' self-esteem and strength in both body and mind.
OUR PROGRAM
The Colorado Springs Therapeutic offers 2 forms of equine-assisted therapies: (1.) Therapeutic Riding and (2.) Hippotherapy (HPOT).
(1.) Therapeutic Riding involves equine activities organized and taught by certified PATH International Instructors to persons with disabilities or diverse needs. Students progress in equestrian skills while improving their cognitive, emotional, social and behavioral skills.
(2.) Hippotherapy (HPOT) is a physical, occupational or speech therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. This strategy is used as part of an integrated treatment program to achieve functional outcomes. This type of therapy is performed by experienced and licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, or speech pathologists.
